Botox
What is Botox?
Botox is the trade name by which Botulinum Toxin A is widely known. For over 20 years it has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions. In the aesthetic industry, it is used in facial muscles to prevent the formation and treat mild wrinkles.
Which areas can be treated with Botox?
- Glabellar Lines (Frown lines)
- Crow’s Feet Lines
- Forehead lines
- Brow Lift
- Neck lift
- Gummy smile reduction
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
How does Botox work?
Botulinum toxin, once injected, will bind to the nerve endings preventing messages to be passed into the muscle. In short, it causes a temporary paralysis of the muscle until it is slowly eliminated by the body.
How do I prepare for Botox treatment?
There is no need for any preparation. Book a consultation and make a list of any questions you want to be answered.
What does the consultation entail?
The consultation is as, if not even more important than the actual treatment itself. In it you will get to know the physician and all that is needed pertaining to botulinum toxin A and the procedure including side effects, longevity etc.
How long does the procedure take?
Full consultation and procedure last around 30minutes.
Is the procedure painful?
The pain associated with injections is mild and most often no local anaesthetic cream is required. The needles used are very fine and around 0.31mm in diameter.
Who should not have the procedure done?
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Persons who are taking certain medications
- Patients who suffer from a neurological disease (including Multiple Sclerosis and Myasthenia Gravis).
When will I start seeing the results?
Botulinum toxin will take up to 10-14 days to reach its full effect.
How long does the effect last?
From personal experience and from several reports the effects last around 3 months.
How frequently can Botox be done?
The best practice is to have it done once the effect stops but not more frequently than 3 months.
Is it true that once you start, you have to keep on doing it?
Rest assured that this is false. You can have Botox done at your own leisure. You can even have it done only once.
What are the side effects of Botox?
- Pain, minimal bleeding, and the possibility of bruising are the most common side effects. Otherwise, there will be no visible signs and these are temporary.
- Immediately after the procedure, small bumps on the skin will be visible. This is normal and will completely disappear within 30minutes.
- The aftercare is very simple and there is no downtime associated with the procedure.
- In rare cases, the Botox can migrate to nearby muscles, causing some weakness, such as drooping of the upper eyelid. This is a temporary side effect, lasting for a few weeks at most.
What should I avoid after treatment?
Avoid touching your face for the first 4 hours and vigorous exercise and make up for the first 24hrs. It is advisable to avoid extreme heat such as saunas and blow dries for two weeks. Otherwise you can carry on with your normal routine.

Fillers
The second pillar of aesthetic medicine and where artistry meets science.
What are Fillers?
First of all, it is important to note that there are different categories of fillers; permanent, semi-temporary and temporary. In the aesthetic industry, the most commonly used and the ones commonly referred to as fillers belong to the temporary category.
These kinds of dermal fillers can be hyaluronic acid-based fillers, collagen-based fillers, and calcium hydroxyapatite fillers. The most popular are the hyaluronic acid-based fillers.
Hyaluronic Acid!! What is that?
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is already produced and found naturally in the body. It is mostly found in the skin, connective tissue and eyes. Its main function is to retain water to keep your tissues well lubricated and moist. By injecting it using specific techniques in conjunction with the underlying anatomy it allows for reshaping, volumizing, contouring or any combination of the above.
Which areas can be treated with Fillers?
- Static wrinkles
- Nose profile reshaping/liquid rhinoplasty
- Lips
- Cheeks
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Jawline
- Chin
- Under eyes
How does Filler work?
As the name suggests and as previously mentioned filler will allow the area being treated to be reshaped achieving a younger, rejuvenated result.
How do I prepare for Filler treatment?
There is no need for any particular preparation. We always suggest being well hydrated prior to any sort of treatment. Book a consultation and make a list of any questions you want to be answered.
What does the consultation entail?
The consultation is as, if not even more important than the actual treatment itself. In it you will get to know the physician and all that is needed pertaining to dermal fillers and the procedure including side effects, longevity etc.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure time will vary as each and every client is unique, be it their needs, queries, expectations and anatomy amongst other things. Our end goal is to satisfy each and every one of these traits. Usually, full consultation and procedure last around 30-60 minutes.
Who should not have the procedure done?
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Persons who are taking certain medications
- Patients with a previous allergy to local anaesthetic.
- Patients younger than 18years old
- Patients who had surgical intervention in the area of interest
Is the procedure painful?
The pain varies according to the area being injected and unfortunately, it can never be completely avoided. The thin size of the needles, anaesthetic cream applied prior and the anaesthetic within the syringe itself help with the intensity.
When will I start seeing the results?
With fillers, most of the results can be seen immediately. However, it is always suggested to wait 14 days until any bruising and swelling subside and the filler fully integrates with the surrounding tissue.
How long does the effect last?
From personal experience and from several reports the effects vary from 9 to 15 months with a steady reduction in said effect as time elapses.
How frequently can Fillers be done?
Despite fillers being able to be injected very frequently it is always advised and logical to have them done once the desired effect wears off.
I am afraid that fillers will make me look fake.
Like everything else, if fillers are used in the correct amount, using the correct type, technique and frequency, a natural look will be the result.
What are the possible side effects of Filler?
- Pain, minimal bleeding, and the possibility of bruising are the most common side effects. Otherwise, there will be no other visible signs, and these are temporary.
- Immediately after the procedure, the area of injection will also be swollen. This varies from patient to patient and is normal. Improvement and complete resolution occur over 48-72hours. Ice application helps to reduce the intensity.
- The aftercare is very simple and there is no downtime associated with the procedure due to recovery.
- In rare cases, incorrect injection of fillers by the injector might cause small lumps in the skin or in some instances block small arteries. These instances are very rare if the correct technique is used and done by an experienced injector. If noticed immediately they can be resolved without lasting effects.
What should I avoid after treatment?
Avoid touching the injection site for the first couple of hours. Application of make-up and any heat such as sunbathing, sunbeds, prolonged hot showers should be avoided preferably for the first 48hrs. Otherwise, you can carry on with your normal routine.
